OCT 2014 Southey achieved invoiced sales of R304m for the month of October 2014 which is a new record for the Southey Group. The Sales were achieved on the back of high activity on rig work in Dormac, high activity on Eskom power station maintenance and projects in Contracting Gauteng and a consistent performance from the balance of the business units in the group.
JUN 2014 Parkhomes has won and is executing an order of R28m, from the United Nations, for pre-fabricated medical clinics across 39 sites in Zambia. Materials were dispatched in kit form for assembly in Zambia and siting throughout Zambia including remote sites. The project is on track and will be delivered within budget, on time and to the high quality specifications of the United Nations.
DEC 2013 Tate and Nicholson, the specialist Roof Sheeting and Cladding division of the Southey Holdings Group were awarded the Roofing and Cladding contract for Eskom’s new 4 800 MW coal fired power station being built in Mpumalange – the Kusile Power Station.
SEPT 2013 Dormac won an order of R54m to build petro-chemical tanks at the Vopak Terminal in Durban based on its strong experience in engineering and fabrication. Vopak is the world’s largest independent tank storage provider.
JULY 2013 CBI Engineering in Pretoria achieved an FM Global fire-rating of Class 1A which is the highest rating achievable for its Polyphen-Cored Panel and the only such approved rating in Africa, used mainly in the installation of coldrooms and clean rooms. This is a proud moment for CBI which has already installed R20m worth of Polyphen panels in the last 12 months and as a result of the accreditation has seen a steep rise in orders and enquiries. JUNE 2013 Three major Eskom related contracts valued at R150m were awarded to Southey Contracting based on a history of delivery and excellent service to Eskom. Durban Contracting was awarded the painting of the tunnels on the Ingula Hydro Electrical scheme for a value of over R15m. Contracting Gauteng was awarded the re-blast of ducting at Medupi for R35m and the scaffolding and insulation at Duvha, Kendall and Komati was extended for another year with an estimated contract value of R100m.
FEB 2013 In recognition of the safety systems employed as well as the administration, implementation and maintenance and the safety records achieved as a result thereof, Southey Gauteng was awarded a NOSA 5 Star rating. The Nosa audit left no stone unturned in an effort to confirm the division was deserving of this accolade.
NOV 2012 Eddie Buijs the Southey Holdings Health Safety and Environmental Manager received an award of 1st place from FEM (Workmen’s compensation insurer for the construction industry) on behalf of Southey Contracting a division of Southey Holdings for their very low 5 year safety incident track record.
OCT 2012 Dormac was chosen as the 2012 Western Cape Exporter of the Year. This annual competition, run by the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sponsored by ABSA Capital, is now in its 22nd year and recognizes the achievements of Western Cape businesses excelling in the export of products and services.
SEPT 2012 Durban Contracting won the 2012 annual corrosion institute award for a Metal Spraying project (TSA) during the June to August 2011 shutdown at the SAPREF Refinery.
MAY 2012 Dormac was the winner of the Education and Training category at the National 2012 Oliver Empowerment Awards. This celebrates the significant strides Dormac has made in the black empowerment arena and effectively recognizes Dormac as the best trainer of historically disadvantaged individuals in South Africa.
FEB 2012 Parkhome Modular Units was awarded a R44m contract for the delivery of 130 classrooms to the Department of Public Works in the Eastern Cape. The contract was awarded based on Parkhome’s ability deliver the units by the end of the March 2012 and a reputation for consistent superior quality units. The contract has been extended by a further R28m.
OCT 2011 Dormac completed the repair and special survey life extension works of a semi-submersible oil rig in Saldahna Bay exceeding R200m in value, 100% safety record and further growing the “shipyard in a box” capability of Dormac.
SEPT 2010 Concord Refrigeration was awarded the Shoprite Checkers North Rand Contractor of the Year award in the Service Provider category at a glamorous presentation dinner. Congratulations to Krish and his Concord team.
August 2010 Okapi won an R 11m order for the manufacture and supply of kwikstage scaffolding for various Eskom power stations as well as an export order valued at R 12m from internationally renowned Hansa Trading for 8 containers of Okapi pocket knives for 2011 and thereby maintains its reputation as a world-class top-quality manufacturer
